Georgia vs. France; Georgia vs. Finland – Squad Announced
Temur Ketsbaia announced the list with the name of the players to be part of the National Team in the upcoming two qualifying matches for the World Cup Brazil 2014.
The National Team of Georgia will play the upcoming two qualifying matches on the road to the World Cup Brazil 2014 against France and Finland. Both matches are going to be played in Tbilisi, but in different stadiums.
On September 6th will be the returning match against France on the Boris Paichadze National Stadium, and four days later, on 10th, Georgians will host against Finland on the Mikheil Meskhi Stadium.
Despite the inaccurate results the Georgians hold the hopes to fight for the third place of the qualifying round, which will give better conditions to the upcoming qualifying games thanks to the coefficient, but to achieve this the “crusaders” will have to beat specially Finland, which is the direct rival and against whom they couldn’t win in Helsinki, despite the superiority of whole match.
The list is quite polemic, the Georgian side has been playing very bad in the last friendly matches and the players called up seem to be exactly the same. Most of the critics are against the central experimented defender Zurab Khizanishvili whose mistakes have coasted the team many results in the last campaign.
The top talented midfielder Levan Kenia is still out of the list, even if he slowly is recovering his form and looks confident in Fortuna Düsseldorf. Instead, two newcomers in the team, from Dila Gori the individualist Georgi Iluridze and the top scorer of Inter Baki, Bachana Tskhadadze – son of former defender Kakhaber Tskhadadze - will have their chances to debut with the national shirt.
The main troubles in the National Team of Georgia have been the scoring sector, since Shota Arveladze and Georgi Demetradze retired; Georgia has been passing thru serious times in the offensive area. The needs of the team were revealed in the last friendly games and that’s why this time Temur Ketsbaia decided to call up 5 forwards.
