Positive result achieved in Luxembourg to begin the qualifying campaign.

Aleksandre Chivadze’s team managed to start the U21 Euro qualifications with a victory away to Luxembourg. The occidental European side had two defeats in the first matches so it was important to Georgia to add 3 points from their first performance.

The match was complicated to the visitors, despite the opening goal by David Skhirtladze at the 18th, the Georgians didn’t look comfortable on the pitch. The domination in possession and actions wasn’t reflected in the result and the hosts arranged one or two dangerous attacks.

It’s important to recall the quantity of opportunities missed by the Georgian forwards, and still the breaking moment was at the 60th minute when Dwayan Holter saw his second personal yellow card and was sent off.

The dominion of the Caucasian side was complete after the dismiss of the hosts, and soon the opportunities started to rain in front of Luca Ivesic, the goalkeeper of Luxembourg. At the 72nd minute Mamuka Kobakhidze approved Nika Kvekveskiri’s pass and made it 0-2, and six minutes later the Vitesse Arhem forward Georgi Chanturia scored to make the final 0-3 on the board.

The U21 National Team will visit Slovakia four days later in their second match of the Group C, which is shared with Scotland, Netherlands and Luxembourg. In the other match the Dutch side showed why they’re considerate favorites and smashed Scotland by 4-0.
